(I know this one is mixed bass heavy - I made the mistake of eq'ing through headphones instead of monitor speakers. - I also need to clean up some of the hum from the guitar)

http://gordoninternet.com/music/Nuages.mp3 - Acousting guitar only. 2 mikes - one about 3 inches from the soundhole, the other 2 feet away, mixed in stereo.

Interesting version of Round Midnight, never heard it played on a solid bodied guitar before.

Liked Nuages, I play it myself. The squeaking on the frets is what gets to me, but this can't be avoided with round wound strings. I've got plenty of Pro albums with fret squeaks on.

Good playing.

Thanks!

I've since moved to Elixer strings. They're round wound but with a polymer coating that cuts way down on the squeaking.

Nuages sounds very good. About the only thing I would change is the panning. I find it just bit to wide and feel like I am being surrounded by the guitar. Maybe this is what you want, but for realistic sitting a few feet away in the audience, personally I would narrow it just a tad. But your playing on Round Midnight reminds me of someone... I can't place it. Metheny, Rypdal, Scofield, Frissell.... I dunno. Someone very familiar but I can't place it.

Prolly Jeff Beck Bubba. One of my bigger influences.

I find it just bit to wide and feel like I am being surrounded by the guitar.

That's what I was going for. Too processed?  I mixed through phones so I may have been caught up in the whole effect.

Yeah, it may be a tad over done. I know I have been guilty of over doing it in some of those effects. I dunno try it with out so much and see what you think. This is one of those things to walk away from and approach with fresh ears. Fresh ears often make you go "What was I thinking?!?!" when you hear how you put way too much reverb, chrous, whatever becuase you had been mixing for 3 hours and built up a tolerance. I routinely come back with fresh ears and do the "what was I thinking." routine. Just my 2 cents.
